SpanishPal ("we," "us," "our") is an AI-powered Spanish conversation app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Live voice practice in Speak, Lessons and Roleplay sends audio and conversation text to OpenAI for transcription, responses and voice output. Anthropic processes conversation text for feedback, session recaps and conversation memory.
Versions with AI consent controls ask you to agree before AI practice begins; declining leaves Profile and non-AI browsing available. Earlier versions describe this processing in this policy.
Account data. SpanishPal automatically creates a pseudonymous account for your app installation; no email address or password is required. Account and session data are stored in Supabase, our backend provider.
Safety reports. When you submit an in-app AI content report, we store the text you choose to send and your app account identifier in Supabase for safety review and improvements to content safeguards. Reports are not public and are deleted with your app account.
Usage data. We collect usage events (screens viewed, features used) and performance measurements (such as voice-response latency) associated with an app installation via PostHog to improve the app. These events can include pseudonymous installation and session identifiers; we do not require your name or email address.
Attribution and diagnostics. In versions with ad-measurement controls, we use AppsFlyer to measure installs and subscription conversions only with your optional permission. Earlier versions may initialize attribution at startup, subject to platform tracking controls. You can change this choice in Profile → Ad measurement. We use Sentry to diagnose errors and crashes. These services can receive app and device information, pseudonymous and advertising identifiers, event timestamps, and technical error details. AppsFlyer can infer approximate region or city from your IP address; we do not request precise GPS location. With ad measurement enabled, AppsFlyer may share measurement data with our advertising partners. Tracking permission is requested where applicable.
Purchase data. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We use RevenueCat to track subscription status. We never see your payment card details.
SpanishPal's core feature — conversation with Elena — is powered by third-party AI services. Specifically:
Your conversations are processed in real time and are not used to train AI models unless you separately opt in to any such program offered by those providers.
Anthropic processes conversation text for recaps and memory. See Anthropic privacy policy.
You can request deletion without reinstalling the app: email support@migdiomedia.com with the subject “SpanishPal data deletion”. Include enough information to identify your installation, such as an existing support reference or subscription transaction reference if available. Never send your password or full payment details. We may ask for reasonable verification so we do not delete someone else’s data.
In the app, use Profile → Delete account. Deletion removes stored conversations, memory, learning progress and safety reports. Deleting data does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; manage billing separately in your store account. Limited usage records are retained as described below.
To enforce the shared voice allowance, we retain a pseudonymous subscription digest and monthly usage totals for the current and previous UTC calendar month, including after account deletion. The account-to-subscription link is removed when the account is deleted. These limited usage records prevent a restored subscription from receiving a new allowance.
SpanishPal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
